This piece evokes a different world than the “Naked” does. As the title suggests, I tried to create the sound of elementary particles smashing into each other within a vast, lonely, cosmic space. By significantly slowing down the tempo of the second Gymnopedie, I ended up with a very long piece: this is supposed to give the listener the feeling that time has slowed down. I did not use any field recordings on this track. Rather, I used the Omnisphere synthesizer to create all of the sounds on “Atoms of Amber.” Artists like Steve Roach, Tangerine Dream, and Tim Hecker specifically influenced me during the creation of this track.
